“The threat of counterfeit stamps continues to grow due to advances in printing technology and increased prevalence of online marketplaces and social media,” said the report. A contractor hired by the IG to gauge online counterfeit stamp threats “found multiple websites, phishing sites, dark web activity, and social media postings,” it said, identifying 8,900 instances of marketing or selling counterfeit stamps over a two-month period. ..."
