Gov. Kay Ivey issues state of emergency ahead of winter weather
"WHEREAS the National Weather Service is forecasting that certain counties in northern Alabama may be severely affected by ice, snow, sleet, and freezing rain, as well as extreme and prolonged freezing temperatures, beginning on Sunday, January 14, 2024;...According to the Office of Gov. Kay Ivey, the counties include: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Etowah, Fayette, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan, Pickens, St. Clair, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston.
The state of emergency is in effect as of 2 p.m. Sunday.
